In 2001 MDS Tele Services based in Newark, was established to provide a business to business telephone canvassing service for small to medium size businesses looking to promote their services to a wider audience. As the business owner, Marilyn works closely with MDS’ clients to raise awareness of their products and services to targeted audiences, helping them gain additional orders and enquiries.
The personal service provided has successfully assisted many local Businesses to expand their own client bases and find additional new customers. The telemarketing contracts cover a diverse range of industries, from cranes and lifting gear, temperature control units, IT solutions, and anything in between.
After 36 years as a police officer, Dave retired from the Nottinghamshire Police Force, and joined the business in late 2007 and together Marilyn and Dave formed MDS Courier Services.
MDS Courier Services work with a number of local solicitors, accountants and manufacturers, delivering urgently required and sensitive documents, packages and components all over the UK.
Due to increased demand, this service has now been extended by larger vehicles for wide and varied range of consignments including sensitive loads for the military and aerospace industries.
Over the years, the quotes for the bespoke delivery services have ranged from delivering a mannequin, to collecting a wedding ring from a jewellers and delivering to the groom on time for his big day. Marilyn and Dave say that each and every day is different, and no two consignments are ever the same.
This year they have also acquired the business Vancando. Marilyn and Dave said “ this year has started off really well for us, and we are really pleased to incorporate a van delivery service to our existing portfolio”.
Marilyn and Dave have continued with their charitable work, Dave once more escorted the wheel chair section of the Newark half Marathon, whilst the telemarketing side of the business canvassed to raise sponsorship for the Newark Carnival. Marilyn still assists with Birds on Bikes this year in a change from the usual long distance ride she assisted in the organisation and promotion of the Leather to Lace Fashion Show at the Roman Way Newark helping to raise over £1000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind,
