Joining The Race To Make A Difference Many people taking part in the Race for Life do so in memory of a loved one, while may others just want to support a worthy cause. On average, one in three people will develop cancer at some time in their lives, and many people have lost family members or close friend to cancer.

Mrs. Marilyn Sharp who owns MDS Tele Services who offer business to business telemarketing and MDS Motorcycle Courier Services on Millgate, is running in the event with her two daughters, Dyanne Heason and Teresa Sharp. Mrs. Sharp said; "This is obviously a really good cause and I think every family is affected by cancer in some way." Mrs. Sharp took part in the Bird on Bikes charity motorbike ride last year and both her daughters took part in the Coast to Coast walk many years ago. Teresa represented the County in Athletic events when she was at school but hasn't run since. "Both my daughters are regularly going to the gym to train and I am going running and swimming before work" Mrs. Sharp said. "It's hard work but we all want to get some training in before the event" she said although they had not set a target to reach, they were hoping to raise as much money as possible.  Cancer Research UK pays for research into many types of cancer, covering all aspects of the disease, from its molecular causes through to treatment and prevention.
